![]() Thanks I will try these steps hopefully it will work. Anyway, changed it and everything seems fine, but the low coolant level is still there and I still lose a bit of antifreeze (maybe 20-30 ml./1 oz for every 600-700 km). Every time I let the engine cool down and check the coolant level it is full. Usually this occurs once the car is warmed up, and while moving at highway speeds. Try to make sure you turn off your headlights/radio/all electric consumers when doing the water pump test so you have less strain on your battery for those 12 minutes. The coolant level is indeed low but for some reason light only shows when AC compressor is on. Trapped air is possible, but whenever the air had moved into the tank and forced the coolant out of the tank, causing the low light warning, then that air volume inside the tank will not be able to disappear after that, and so when the tank cap is opened, one should see the a low level coolant. On top of that it was loosing a bit of coolant, so I did a pressure test and found out a leaking thermostat. Intermitantly my coolant level warning lamp will light up in yellow and stay on for a couple of minutes then turn off. It's up to you if you want to do this cycle again. I would go on a good long drive of greater than 15 minutes to help charge up the battery again. Hello, was just wondering what might cause my coolant light to come on and then go off after a few seconds on a cold start up. Press on the gas pedal to WOT (remember your motor is NOT running so nothing will happen) and hold this for 1 minute.Ħ) After 1 minute has passed get out of the car and look in the coolant reservoir to see if it's pumping coolant? Start a new timer/counter for about 12 minutes so you know when the entire water pump cycle is done.Īfter this is done. You check the level when cold and it is normal, then drive it for 5-10 minutes and the low coolant light comes on (when the thermostat opens). 2) put key in the ignition (if you don't have comfort access)ģ) DO NOT PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, but press the start button untill all your accessories come onĤ) Set your HVAC controls to the highest temperature on both sides and the fan speed to the slowest speedĥ) Get some kind of stop watch/clock to time a 1 minute count down. The intermittant low coolant light is very common, especially when you have recently worked on the cooling system and lost some coolant, then refilled. ![]()
